Generally, the harder the material, the slower the speed.

The feed rate indicates how quickly the cutter engages with the part and is typically measured in units per minute.

Spindle speed refers to the rotational frequency of the machine's spindle, expressed in revolutions per minute (RPM). The ideal speed is calculated by working backwards from the desired surface speed (SFM or m/min), taking into account the diameter of the workpiece or cutter.

 <li>RPM = 3.82 * SFM / CD</li>
 <li>IPR = Ft x NT </li>
